Duran Duran at Foxwoods!

I woke up this morning and realized the countdown is on -- 10 days 'til the Duran Duran show at Foxwoods! Remember the episode of Sex &The City when Carrie and the girls take a trip to AC? Well this is kind of like that, except that Foxwoods is way more convenient. I also love that it's self-contained, and totally safe (less sketchy = more time to just relax and have fun).

As a new mommy of twins my first night out was to see DD at MSG back in October of last year. Now the babes are nearly 11 months old (yikes!) and so I'm going away for the night! How awesome is that? With my three best girls it will definitely be a night to remember.

What is your favorite Duran Duran song from back in the day, ladies? There are so many that I love but this morning it's NEW MOON ON MONDAY.

Paradise Found at Seven Stars Resort, Turks & Caicos

The Deck at Seven Stars Resort, Turks & Caicos

When you think about it, there’s not really a bad place to stay in Turks & Caicos. Luke and I took our first holiday without the twins, spending five nights in Providenciales. Provo is home to Grace Bay Beach, which is consistently voted one of the best beaches in the world – and for good reason. With perfect white sand and still, temperate, gem-colored water it’s not an exaggeration to call this place paradise.

When we first came upon the Seven Stars Resort we were momentarily thrown by the entrance – with a security gate and rows of tall palm trees, this could have been another impersonal beachfront high-rise. But when we entered the open-air lobby, immediately we saw that the opposite was true. Decorated in cool colors, friendly staff members greeted us with both water and rum punch – much needed refreshment on a hot June afternoon in the Caribbean.

The spa – where I enjoyed a 90-minute massage – makes the perfect first-stop for vacationers. I recommend beginning your trip with a couples massage. But since Luke is one of the few people on earth who doesn’t like massages, he went to read by the pool while I had my treatment.

The accommodations at Seven Stars have all the amenities you’ll need on your vacation. I especially liked that the one and two bedroom suites were equipped with modern kitchens, which means that you don’t need to eat out for every meal. But the best part about the rooms is the view of Grace Bay Beach that you have from your bed. Open the doors to your private balcony and you can literally hear the gentle lapping of the water as you fall asleep.

My favorite spot at the resort was The Deck – a bar and grill overlooking the beach where we enjoyed a fantastic lunch and the strongest pina coladas on the island (and we sampled a lot!). During the day The Deck is a bright and cheerful place to hang out. At night it transforms into a laid-back lounge complete with music, fire pits and yes, those drinks.

Our tour of the Seven Stars ended with a sunset cruise, departing from the beach just steps from the resort. This was a big hit with the honeymooners on board but for Luke and I, the best part of our visit to the Seven Stars was that it’s a place where you can truly get away but still enjoy all the perks of a luxury resort. Spread out enough so that you never felt crowded, it’s one of those rare places that manages to offer a high level of professional service and feel and authentic at the same time.

Whether you’re going on honeymoon, babymoon or leaving the babies for the first time for some much needed R&R (rest and reconnection) you’d be hard pressed to find a better place to do it than at the Seven Stars Resort.
